As we know that 25G optical modules can be divided into 25G dual-fiber optical modules, 25G WDM optical modules and 25G BIDI optical modules. The biggest similarity of them is their use environment. They are all used in 25G Ethernet, data center and 5G network fronthaul, and the farthest transmission distance can reach 40 kilometers.
The difference in fiber resource utilization:
①25G dual-fiber optical module has two optical fiber interfaces, connecting two optical fibers, the utilization rate of the optical fiber is low;
②25G BIDI has only one optical fiber interface, which can be connected to one optical fiber, which can save half of optical fiber resources compared with the dual-fiber module;
③In appearance, 25G WDM is similar to the dual-fiber optical module. There are two optical fiber interfaces which connect two optical fibers. However, a single optical fiber of the 25G WDM optical module can transmit multiple wavelengths without interfering to each other.
The difference of working wavelength:
①The working wavelength of 25G dual-fiber optical module is 850nm, 1310nm;
②The working wavelength of 25G BIDI optical module are TX1270nm/RX1330nm, TX1330nm/RX1270nm, TX1310nm/RX1270nm and TX1270nm/RX1310nm;
③The central wavelength of 25G WDM optical module is varies. The working wavelength of CWDM is 1271-1371nm, 1471-1571nm, DWDM working wavelength is 1528.77nm-1563.86nm, LWDM working wavelength is 1269.23nm-1318.35nm.
