DAC Connecting Applications Of Optical Transceivers

①100G QSFP28 direct connection

There are two 100G modules in both ends. It's suitable for stacking and direct connection in short distance and the same rack.

②100G QSFP28 connect 4*25G SFP28

It's suitable for the interconnection between 100G and 25G devices, transmission distance is within 5 meters.

③40G QSFP+ direct connection

There are two 40G modules in both ends, suitable for short-distance and transmission distance is within 7M.

④40G QSFP+ connect 4*10G SFP+

It is suitable for the interconnection between 40G and 10G devices, and the maximum transmission distance can reach 7M.


Applications Of Dac And Aoc Transceivers


AOC connecting applications:

①100G QSFP AOC direct connection

Both ends are 100G devices, with OM3 or OM4 optical to reach 70m-100m.

②100G QSFP28 AOC connect 4*25G SFP28 AOC

Used for the interconnection between 100G and 25G device, one end is 100G interface, and the other end is 4 25G interfaces.

③40G QSFP+ AOC direct connection

Both ends are 40G devices, suitable for the interconnection of 40G equipment within 100m.

④40G QSFP+ AOC connection 4*10G SFP+ AOC:

Suitable for the interconnection between 40G and 10G device, one is 40G and the other end is 4*10G with OM3 optical fiber.


In conclusion, DAC high-speed cables are recommended for distances of 1-5M, AOC active optical cables are for 7-100M, and optical modules and optical fibers are recommended for connections above 100M.
