The biggest advantage that 25G Ethernet technology brings to data centers is that it can maximize bandwidth and port density, and it can also use 25Gb/s single-channel physical layer technology to achieve 100Gb data transmission, which can provide the most energy-efficient way to meet the increasing demands of next-generation data center networks.
Due to the 2.5 times transmission rate of 25G SFP28 optical transceiver compared to 10G optical transceiver, and has a higher port density, it can also save operating costs by reducing the number of switches and cables. Compared with 100G optical transceivers, the loss of 25G SFP28 optical transceivers is also smaller. In addition, the 25G SFP28 optical transceiver can use 2 fiber channels to achieve a transmission rate of 50G. Compared with the use of 4 10G fiber channels to achieve a 40G optical transceiver, the 25G SFP28 optical transceiver is undoubtedly a better choice.
25G optical transceivers are commonly divided into 25G dual-fiber, 25G WDM and 25G BIDI transceivers.
25G SFP28 SR
25G SFP28 SR is a single-channel optical transceiver with a transmission rate of 25Gbps and packaged in SFP28. The central wavelength is 850nm. The maximum transmission distance is 70m when connected with OM3 and 100m when connected with OM4 multi-mode patch cords. It is widely used in ultra-short-distance data centers, 25G Ethernet and 5G fronthaul networks.
25G SFP28 LR
25G SFP28 LR is a hot-plugging optical transceiver packaged in SFP28 with LC interface. The working wavelength is 1310nm, transmission distance can reach 10km when connected with single-mode fiber.
It is used in short-distance data centers, 25G Ethernet and 5G fronthaul networks.
25G SFP28 ER
25G SFP28 ER optical transceiver adopts a hot-swappable SFP28 package with a central wavelength of 1310nm and a maximum transmission rate of up to 25.78125Gbps. The longest transmission distance with single-mode fiber is 40km. It is suitable for medium and long-distance 25G Ethernet transmission.
