A Gigabit optical transceiver refers to the optical module with a transmission rate of 1.25Gbps. Generally, the packages ara SFP, GBIC but the common one is SFP dut to its small volume, which is considered to be an upgraded version of GBIC, with a transmission distance up to 80-160km.
Gigabit optical transceivers are used in Gigabit Ethernet, small and medium-sized data centers. The advantages are low power consumption, small size, long transmission distance, and low price.
As 5G technology is prevalent, optical transceivers are also developing rapidly. From low-speed 100M, Gigabit, and 10G to high-speed 100G, 200G, and 400G, the price is also rised. Different transceivers are choosed by specific application scenarios.
