AOC (Active Optical Cable) uses optical fiber between the connectors to achieve electrical-to-optical conversion. It is an alternative to optical transceivers, which eliminates the separable interface between optical transceiver and fiber.
①Lightweight: Due to its material, AOC weighs less than a comparable direct attach copper cable.
②Anti-electromagnetic interference: It is not easily affected by electromagnetic interference since it transmits optical signals.
①It's a little expensive compared with DAC high-speed cable;
②Damage to one end of the module will cause the entire active cable to be scrapped.
