Abstract


The transmission distance of high-rate optical modules and low-rate optical modules is affected by many factors. The light attenuation of high-rate signals will be more obvious during transmission and more susceptible to interference, thus affecting the transmission distance. When selecting an optical module, the transmission medium, link quality, fiber type and specific application requirements should be comprehensively considered to determine the most suitable optical module type and distance.

The transmission distances of high-rate optical modules and low-rate optical modules are not necessarily the same. In optical communications, transmission distance is an important indicator, which represents the longest distance that optical signals can be effectively transmitted. Depending on the type of optical module and transmission rate, the transmission distance will vary.


First, let us understand the definitions of high-speed optical modules and low-speed optical modules.
